(Update: See my Reflection on 2024 at the bottom of the page after the Links to the articles)
I have been doing a lot of self reflection on what I want to focus on for 2024. I have never been a “New Years Resolution” kind of person but this year I decided to give it a shot and set some goals for myself.
One of my goals for 2024 is to really take this knowledge base site seriously and try to make it a good and consistant source of information. I want to commit to doing at least one post each week, starting with the first one going live on Jan 7th. That means 52 articles in the 2024 calendar year.
I have a lot of good ideas for stuff that I believe a lot of people could take advantage of the extra information. I will also be posting simple setup guides for deploying new awesome docker containers I find. I might even dig into what I do professionally with End User Compute/VDI. If you have any suggestions for topics to cover, feel free to leave a comment on this post or email me. No matter how “easy” or complex, if you are asking the question, someone else might want to know also.
I’ll keep this post pined to the top of my site and continue to update it as I release articles and track my progress.
Check back in each week to see if you can take advantage of some awesome new technology and here’s to a great 2024!

Reflecting (Added January 1st, 2025)
As I look back at 2024, even though I didn’t finish my goal, I’m still very proud of myself for how far I did get. Most resolutions end in the first two months of the year and I made it all the way through October. Published 43 articles every Sunday on time.
In the beginning of the year it was really easy for me since I was motivated and had a lot of content to write about. Years of building out my home lab gave me a long list of stuff to document. As I got further into the year, the content dried up and I felt the pressure to deploy new services on my system just to get content to write about. Not in the true spirit of this resolution and I felt things starting to slip. Couple that with a few massive life events and projects at my day job hitting deadlines and go lives, the pressure to put out contestant good content changed into burden.
Not to say that’s an excuse…I still got a lot accomplished in this year that I do feel good about. Almost every Docker container I run in my environment is now documented. I was able to mostly switch my hypervisor from ESX to Proxmox. Published some original ideas like my Email Zero Trust system and running Docker Volumes on a NFS share and QR Code Information Page.
Overall, even though I didn’t finish the 52 article goal, I still feel accomplished and am glad I tried to do it this year. 2024 was a great year for me and 2025 is shaping up to be another great one.
Look to the future – I’m not going to do a 2025 resolution. I will still be posting content here and there on different stuff I’m working on. Built a Pterodactyl server to host a Minecraft server for everyone in the family to connect and play together so I’ll probably make some content on that. I am also getting Married in 2025 and building out my own wedding website with a few new Docker containers and stuff specific to Event Hosting. There won’t be the weekly cadence anymore as life has gotten to unpredictable but I hope the audience I have built over the last year continues to come back and check for my new content from time to time. I might look at doing a notification/subscription system for when new content goes live.
Here’s to 2025 being a great year and I hope everyone has fun continuing to build out your home labs and learning new things.
cant wait to see what you come up withb
Hello! I hope you’re having a great day. Good luck 🙂
