Welcome to the new and improved CHNS.tech

Description

I took some time off after my 2024 challenge to post new content every weekend. It ended up getting the better of me and my time. I also had a few really big life events at the end of 2024 and through 2025 which took up all the free time I had. Well…I’m back and with a whole new look!

I’ve spent the last 2 weeks digging into a whole new process for hosting and transferred my archive of content over to this new platform. I utilized Claude Code to build on the Hugo platform, hosted by nginx. This gives me much more flexibility, customization and fewer security issues than I had with WordPress. I’ll probably do an article about my setup process in the future, Hugo is a really cool software that I think needs more spotlight.

A few things have changed…

Starting with Navigation:

Description

Hopefully this new navigation panel will make a lot more sense and be more helpful for finding the content you want.

  • Posts - This is the page to see all the content I’ve ever posted. This is basically the format of the old main site.
  • Site News - This will be where I post all content around the functioning of CHNS. This is like this article on updates, if I do any sort of challenges like my 2024 new years resolution challenge. Basically anything that is information I need to make known but not really a tutorial or walk through.
  • Helpful Links - This page will be for all my hosted apps that are publicly accessible. I might also include other Tech Bloggers links in the future here to spread community.
  • Products - With my learning of Claude Code and some projects at my day job, I’m going to start self publishing any of the applications I write that I think could be helpful to the public. I’ve already been developing a Work Journal application and have a few more things in the works.
  • About - This is your typical about page with contact information and a little bit about me and this site.
  • RSS - I finally integrated an RSS feed. Feel free to follow my feed for content updates when I start posting new stuff.
  • Support - I’ve been hosting all this content for free, mostly for my future self to look back on but wanted a way for others to offer support if they felt the need. This link will take you to my “Buy Me a Coffee” page where you can provide direct support to my home lab and all the content I produce. No obligation to do so of course, I’ll still continue to put out my content.

One other noteworthy change…I didn’t build out a comment system. After having comments enabled on posts on my WordPress site, 99.9% of it was just spam. It never led to conversation and just became a problem I didn’t want to deal with. I do have ideas on building out a community forum in the future where we can discuss article topics and actually have a conversion, but that’s not planned yet.

Future Content

I already have a list of articles and content I want to write from my time off. Even though I took a year off, I was still home labbing and deploying new and fun applications. I also have plans to talk about how I’m using AI and building that into my home lab. I’m not going to commit to a release schedule like I did in 2024 quite yet. Please bear with me on this as I start figuring out my new workflow and process. This is the most excited I’ve been in a while to build new things and share my knowledge. Check back soon for new content.
